The week is off to a great start as YFM switches things up and announces DJ Ankle Tap as the morning drive DJ.
This morning, YFm along with a number of media houses celebrated the announcement of Bryce "DJ Ankle Tap" Clarke, who after moving to the weekday evening timeslot, is now back to host the YFM morning drive-time show.
Following the YFM Re-Up project, restructuring and changes to the station are underway. To celebrate its birthday milestone, and as part of the next phase of evolution and reinvention - YFM, a month ago, embarked on a brand repositioning strategy.
The month of October also saw the reappointment of former Programming Manager, Tumelo Diaho - Monaheng who took back the reins after leaving the station in 2014. He was recruited to YFM in 2009 where he was instrumental in designing the stations' programming strategy. A fine judge of talent, Tumelo has discovered and nurtured some of the best current radio personalities including; Thando Thabethe, Ayanda MVP, DJ Ankle Tap and Mantsoe Pout.
My return to YFM is founded in my love for pioneering radio, youth talent and connecting advertisers and brands to this highly valuable consumer in a meaningful and authentic way. Everything starts with the Youth and if we empower this listener correctly, our future is in safer hands, said Diaho - Monaheng.
On returning to the station, "I am incredibly grateful and honoured to be back in the morning slot, I would like to thank everyone for the support and love they've given myself and my team, I promise to deliver the utmost best that I possibly can with this opportunity," Ankletap said in his speech after his first show on Monday.
He replaces radio and TV personality, Smash Afrika, who will now host the weekday evening slot between 6pm and 9pm.
To squash any rumors, Tumelo assured everyone that Smash Afrika was not being sidelined.
"Smash remains an integral part of YFM's strategy. The station is still the best platform for talent to constantly reinvent themselves and Smash has proven a great ability to take on his new slot," it said in a statement.
