South Africans that made trending news this 2017

South Africans never cease to amuse the country. Every year there must be a hand full of South Africans trending for some reason or another. We're proudly South African, no doubt!

Phindile Gwala and Jessica Nkosi

A video showing actresses Phindile Gwala and Jessica Nkosi hanging out with a member of "Bling Bandits" is doing rounds on social media sparking mixed reactions.

In the video, Gwala can be seen adding salt and pepper to a stash of cash on her plate meanwhile Nkosi can be seen recording the moment. A man opposite them is also seen recording what Gwala is doing whilst boasting that they're "chewing cash."

Thick Leeyonce

Blogger, photographer and plus size model, Lesego Legobane, known as Thick Leeyonce, had major stars backing her when she responded to a hater on Twitter.

It all started when a Twitter user posted a meme with the following caption: ÃÆ'¢â‚¬Å“Girls that I like VS Girls that like me,ÃÆ'¢â‚¬Â using a snap of Thick Leeyonce to reference the girls that like him, while a petite model was meant to represent the girls he likes. The plus size model shut him down in four words ÃÆ'¢â‚¬Å“I don't like youÃÆ'¢â‚¬Â. How's that for a suttle clapback?

Skolopad

Real name Nonhlanhla Qwabe, Skolopad became an instant social media sensation with her debatable wardrobe, twerking and brutal honesty. The part-time singer from Qwa Qwa, Free State, first found fame at the Metro FM Awards back in February, when she showed up in that yellow dress. The rest they say is history.

Zodwa Wabantu

Zodwa Wabantu, made headlines earlier this year after she made an eye-catching entrance at this year's edition of the Vodacom Durban July, an annual horse race and fashion event. The mother of one's claim to fame was dancing, which catapulted her to mega popularity this year.

Emtee

Twitter was sent into a complete meltdown after screenshots of what is believed to be Emtee's manhood went viral. The local rapper was caught with his pants down, when he accidentally broadcast his penis to Instagram fans during a live-stream gone-wrong on Sunday 29th October. The Roll Up hitmaker took his phone with him to the restroom and continued his live-stream while relieving himself and as he flushed the toilet he accidentally used the same hand holding his cellphone, and his penis was broadcast in full view to his 737 000 followers. The camera then zooms in on a shocked Emtee's face and he says: "I hope you didn't see my dick by accident."

Awkward.
