2017 has been a very good year for the hip-hop industry. Fans found themselves being entertained left, right and center by hip-hop acts from all parts of the world.

That's why today we'll be looking at the top hip-hop songs around the world. In this list, you'll see artists such as Migos, Kendrick Lemar, Future and Cardi B.

The Songs on this list were not placed in any particular order. These songs were part of the reason 2017 was a jump.

  1. French Montana Ft Swae Lee - Unforgettable

Unforgettable had a good run in 2017, the song by the Moroccan-American French Montanta was released on the 7th of April this year, it peaked at the number 3 spot in the billboard 100. It Features vocals by the talented Swae Lee who is the 2nd member of the rap duo known as Rae Sremmurd, which also consists of Slim Jimmy. The Song Unforgettable had much international acclaim and still does it seem like the people can't get enough of the hit single. It was produced by Jaegen and 1Mind. The music video shot in Kampala, Uganda and featured a local dance group called the Triplets Ghetto Kids. The video has over 520 million views and was directed by French Montana himself and Spliff TV. The song sees itself being French Montana's First song where he is the lead artist to reach the billboards top ten.

The song is a nice mix of alternative Hip-hop and dancehall. It was written by French Montana, Swae Lee and C.P DUBB who also worked on the song's production, he also has worked with artists like YG, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor and Tory lanez to name a few. The song can be found in his latest project Jungle. The song is actually a remix of a song with the same title that had also featured Jerimih. This version of the song was released in November 2016. It has been certified multi-platinum in various countries and Four Times Platinum in the U.S.

  1. Kendrick Lamar - Be Humble.

The is the single from Kendrick Lamar's fourth studio album DAMN. The song was written by Kendrick Lemar and Mike Will Made It. The song became Lamars 2nd single to be on the number one spot on the Billboard hot 100 after Bad Blood. The song sees itself being the first song to reach that spot where Kendrick is the lead artist. The song received a Grammy nomination for record of the year at the 60th annual Grammy awards. The Very successful single produced by Mike Will Made It and Pluss were originally supposed to feature Gucci Mane but was later shown to Lamar by Mike Will and was meant to be on Mike Will's Ransom 2 but Kendrick Lamar was convinced to keep the single for himself on his album. The Song by the Best Rapper Alive so says Rolling Stone, is his Fourth top ten single.

The debut was ranked the highest debut for a hip-hop song since Love The Way You lie by Eminem Featuring Rihanna. The song sold over 111,000 copies in its first Week, it also spent its first 15 weeks in the top ten of the top 100. The song is the only Hip-Hop song in 2017 to sell over 1,000,000 digital copies and is eligible to be certified 3x platinum. The song was also in the top ten in other countries. The song won 6 of 8 awards it was nominated for at the MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year.

  1. Migos Ft Lil Uzi Vert - Bad & Boujee

This hit single by the trio Migos was originally dropped in 2016 but since it had so much hype in 2017 it would be so unfair if was not to be considered one of the best songs of 2017. The Trio of Quavo, Offset and Takeoff worked in collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert to make the single their lead single from their 2nd studio album Culture. The single was produced by Metro Boomin with G Koop. It was written by Quavo, Offset, Takeoff, Lil Uzi Vert and Metro Boomin. The Song would peak at the number one spot on the Billboard 100 a month after its release in January. This made the first single by Migos and Lil Uzi Vert to reach the number one spot. But the rise didn't last for long it was dethroned by Ed Sheeran's Shape of you which the removed from that spot by one of the songs on our list Humble by Kendrick Lamar. The songs sold 4,000,000 units in the U.S.A and were certified 4x Platinum.

The song had a slow rise but what a rise it was, the single had crowds around the globe going Rain Drop, Drop Top. The song was so popular it was featured in the American comedy series Black-Ish. The song had sparked a meme trend in December 2016 that helped the song rise in popularity.

  1. Future - Mask Off

This song comes Future's fifth studio album titled Future. The song was released as a single after it had surpassed the lead single from the album which was Draco, the song produced by Metro Boomin, written by Future and Metro Boomin is Future's highest ranked Song on the Billboard Hot 100 to date peaking at number 5. The song was sampled from a song by Tommy Butler titled prison Song which was released in 1978. The song toped at number 2 in France. The song had been in the top ten for 8 weeks. The song was certified quadruple Platinum for its combined sales and streaming units that are over Four million. The song remixed a couple of times, one being a feature with Kendrick Lamar that was performed at the 2017 Coachella Festival before being released on the 27th of May. The song was mixed by engineer Alex Tumay.

The song has influenced a few trends in 2017 one being the Mask Off challenge were individuals replace the song's lyrics and replace them with their own while keeping to the songs rhythm and flow.

  1. Cardi B - Bodak Yellow

This single is Miss Cardi B's debut single, and ever since it has dropped it has made moves, Money Moves to be precise. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks. This made Cardi B the Fifth female artist in history to lead the chart. The song also made her the second female artist to do top the chart with a solo single since Lauryn Hill's Doo Woop (That Thing) which dropped in 1998. The single is said to be inspired by Kodak Blacks Flow from his 2014 song No Flockin. The song was written by Cardi B, Kodak Black, Klenord Raphael, Jordan Thorpe and Anthony White.

The song was produced by J. White. the fire single was nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 2017 B.E.T Hip Hop Awards, it was also nominated for Best Rap Song at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. The song is her first to top the hot 100. The song was loved so much that it had three official remixes one of the remixes features Cardi rapping the lyrics in the Spanish, the other remixes features Kodak Black and the final one is a Dance Hall remix by Jamaican Artist Spice. The song was certified Triple Platinum in the United States.

  1. Post Malone Ft Quavo - Congratulations

The song originally released on the 4th of November 2016 as the lead single for his debut album Stoney. Then song was later released again as his fifth single from the album and it features vocals from Migos member Quavo. The song peaked at the number 8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. This made it his highest peaking song on the charts surpassing his number 14 peak of his debut single White Iverson. It was written by Post Malone, Quavo, Metro Boomin, who was also a part of the songs production team. The other writers were Frank Dukes who also produced the song alongside Bell, who was also one of the writers. The song has a remix that features Future who adds an additional Verse to the song.

The songs music video has had over 560 Million views on youtube. In the video the appearances by all three members of Migos, Metro Boomin, Murda Beatz and Frank Dukes. The song has received a Five Times Platinum Certification in the U.S.A. with a combined sales and streaming equivalent with over five million units in the States. It has also reached platinum status in other Countries like Australia, Canada, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

  1. Post Malone Ft 21 Savage - Rockstar

This single comes from Post Malones's upcoming project Beerbongs & Bentleys. The song song was released on the 15th of September 2017. The songs' writers are Post Malone, 21 Savage, Louis Bell and Olufunmibi Awoshiley. The Producers where Tank God and Bell. The song is Post Malone's First song to reach the Number One spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in several Countries such as Australia, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The song is his First to reach the Number one spot in all these Countries.

The songs music video was Directed by Emil Nava and Features Malone Fighting a group of men with a samurai sword and ends with Post Malone and 21 Savage covered in blood. Pitchfork mentioned that the song was inspired by the Japanese Action Film Lady SnowBlood. The song Broke Apple Music's streaming record on its First week of release it had over 25 million streams and it was Post Malone Third song to be in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 List. It also was the longest running Hip-Hop song to top the list for 2017 being the number 1 spot for 7 weeks. The song also sold 165,458 as of October. The Record was also certified 2x Platinum in the States and reached platinum status in other Countries Sweden, Italy, and was Certified 4x Platinum in Canada.

  1. Travis Scott - Butterfly Effect

The hit by La Flame has been making people dance all over the globe. The Song written by Travis and Shane Lindstorm was released with two other songs on the same day which were A Man and Green & purple which featured one of the people on this list Playboi Carti. The song was produced by Murda Beatz who has worked with Mr. O.V.O.X.O Drake and was also produced by Felix Leone. The song peaked at Number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it spent 21 weeks on the chart before dropping out on the week of the November 18th. It has a sales and streaming equivalent of 1,000,000 units and was Certified Platinum in the U.S.A.

The songs music video was produced by the same person who directed his other hit Goosebumps that featured American Rapper Kendrick Lamar, who is BRTHR. The song's reception was really good in its first week. The were multiple music critics who liked the songs composition and production, being labeled as a textbook Travis Scott single due to its slurred, hazy and Low-key tone.

  1. Migos - T-Shirt

This song debuted as the trio 2nd single from their latest Project Culture. This song is their second highest-charting song of their music career. It managed to reach the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. It was written by All three members of Migos, Trevon Campbell and Nard &B who also worked in the songs production with XL Eagle. The song Peaked at number 11 in the R&B / Hip-Hop Billboard Hot 100, and at Number 19 in the U.S Billboard Hot 100.

The single was certified 2x Platinum in the United States of America. Its highest Ranking on any international Charts is Number 5 in New Zealand Heatseeker. The Songs Music Video was directed by Quavo of Migos and DAPS. It was shot in the U.S.A on a mountain range near one of the Country's most famous lakes, Lake Tahoe which is Located in between California and Nevada. It's also one of the Five largest lakes in the U.S.

  1. Kendrick Lamar - DNA

The second song to be recorded on his fourth studio album DAMN, the song was not released as a single until the song was on high request by his fans. The music video then dropped and more people fell in love with the songs chaotic melody. The songs composition was Kendrick Lamar's idea, as he was recording the song with Mike Will Made It who had already came with a beat to Kendrick. The two had already recorded the first verse of the song, with a beat Mike had already prepared, when Kung Fu Kenny came with the idea that he wanted the beat to be loud and crazy like it was fighting him so on his verses he could be able to Fight Back. The songs Production was handled by hit maker Mike Will and was also written by him and Kung Fu Kenny, who is one of Kendrick Lamar's alter egos who was somewhat the main alter ego for the DAMN Album.

The song Peaked at number Four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Hot 100. It reached Silver Status in the UK. The Greatest Rapper Alive as he was announced by Rolling Stone magazine in August of this Year found the album for the song Going 2x Platinum.

  1. Lil Pump - Gucci Gang

This song by U.S rapper Lil Pump has been having its best life on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number Three. The single is Lil Pump's highest ranking song on the charts. The song is his fifth single from his self-titled Mixtape called Lil Pump. The song was written by Lil Pump, Brenden Murray and Gerrell Nealy, and was produced by Bighead and Gneatz. The song received Gold Status in Italy and peaked at number 2 on the Hot 100 R&B/Hip-Hop charts in the United States of America.

The Song Music Was First Dropped as a 44 second snippet on Lil Pumps Youtube Channel. The full video was then released three days after and has over 200 million views.

  1. Jay-Z - Story of O.j.

Jigga didn't plan on dropping this song as his lead single on his 4:44 album but the people enjoyed the song so much that it surpassed the lead single 4:44 on the charts. The album is Jay-Z's 13th studio album, which was exclusively released on Tidal and Sprint which are streaming and downloading sites. The song peaked at number 23 in the US hot 100 whilst the album was certified platinum. The song was based on a statement mentioned by O.J Simpson which he made famous during his trial, the statement was I'm not black I'm O.J.

The song was meant to shine a light on colorism, socioeconomics, Black Ownership and Business Acumen. The song was sampled from Nina Simone's 1966 song Four Women and mixed in with drum kicks from Kool & The Gang's song, Kool's Back Again. It was produced by No I.D. who also was one of the songs writers alongside Jay.

The song's music video was co-directed by Mark Romanek who has worked on other projects with Jay one of them being 99 Problems and Jay himself was also one of the directors of the Music video. Jay-Z had put a lot of thought in the song's lyrics trying to high light how the black community is struggling in the states and how they could make a better life and future for themselves.

  1. 2 Chainz Ft Quavo & Gucci Mane Good Drank

The song Good Drank was originally released as a promotional single for his mixtape Hibachi for Lunch, but was then removed from the track list and later released this year the lead single for his latest project Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. The album is 2 Chainz Fourth Studio album. Good Drank was produced by Mike Dean and written by 2 Chainz, Quavo of Migos, Gucci Mane and Mike Dean. The Song Debuted at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 and then peaked at number 70 and stayed on the charts for 16 weeks.

The song later reached Platinum Status with over 1,000,000 streaming and purchase units. The music video was based in the Prohibition era were purple drank is being transported instead of alcohol.

  1. 2 Chainz Ft Ty Dolla Sign, Trey Songs & Jhene Aiko It's Vibe

The song was released as his second single from his fourth studio album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. It was written by the artist featured on the song who are 2 Chainz, Ty dolla Sign, Trey Songz and Jhene Aiko. It was then produced by Murda Beatz and G Koop. The song peaked at number 44 and it has spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 thus far. It was certified Platinum in the United States. The songs' music video features everyone in different sections of a club.

The songs reception since its release has been good with it peaking at number 20 on the R&b /Hip-Hop Charts. The song has multiple elements on it due to the variety of Voices on it, making a good song to vibe too.

  1. Playboi Carti - Magnolia

This song by Playboi Carti comes from his commercial mixtape titled Playboi Carti. The song was written by Playboi Carti and Jordan Jenks and produced by Pi'erre Bourne. The songs music video was directed by Hidji Films, and has appearances by A$AP Rocky, Slim Jymmy of Rae Sremmurd, to mention a few. The Songs gained traction due to its catchy chorus that goes In New York I Milly Rock the song gained exposure when it was used by YouTube personality Roy Purdy who used the song as background music for one of his YouTube Videos, were he finds himself taking a tour of New York going to various parts of the Big Apple and he can also be seen dancing with a homeless man the video has gained 7.5 million views. The song has been remixed multiple times by various artist the most notable being Lil Waynes' Freestyle of the song.

The song reached the number 29 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and the number 11 spot the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. The song is certified platinum in the United States and Canada.
