Nadia Nakai

"Admit it.. Don't admit it... It don't matter, I'm the best... I'm the mutherf***kin best!"

Rapper Nadia Nakai is setting the airwaves and dance floors ablaze with her power track titled ‘Best’ featuring Kenyan-born Nigerian songstress Victoria Kimani and Nigeria's Mr. Incredible M.I. The track blazes with a dirty bass line and tight 16s from Nadia, who expresses her alpha female persona through her raps. The track was produced by Playground Productions.

The gorgeous Nadia Nakai, previously known as Nadia Dlamini, is a South African born artist with Zimbabwean heritage. She changed her surname to Nakai, which is her mother’s surname when she was 16 years old and attended high school in Fourways before relocating to Nairobi, Kenya to complete her studies. She was inspired to get into the rap game by her friend Nazizi, who’s a female rapper in Kenya, and by the fact that her friends always told her that she speaks really fast.

To date, she has the title of the champion of the ‘Mixtape 101’ competition that was hosted by ETV’s hip hop programme Shiz Niz and has since featured on various mixtapes including 5fm’s DJ C-Live’s ‘Taste Makers Mixtape’ series which featured artists such as Tumi & the Volume, AKA, Morale and Kwesta. She also dropped successful singles such as ‘Like Me’ and ‘Whatever’. She was featured on the remix of Riky Rick’s ‘Amantombazane’ track in 2014, featured on DJ Sliqe and Kwesta's 'Do Like I Do' remix and dropped ‘Saka Wena’ featuring Nigerian heavyweight Ice Prince. She is currently signed under the record label Sid Records.

She has a degree in Marketing, Communications & Media Studies, and also does work as a voice-over artist. As she describes her music in a nutshell, she says that it is an expression of her worldview and opinions.
